How to play Caitlyn
Read the full guide
Use bot-side brush like an ammo station and preload Headshot before the enemy walks up for a ranged minion, because Caitlyn lane is built around taxing that exact last-hit rather than mindless shove or wave-first Q spam .
Think in trap squares, not trap buttons: on short CC, trap the escape square, on long CC trap under them, and if you E-W, delay the trap slightly so the landing and arm time meet cleanly .
Caitlyn does not simply fall off with time; what falls off is an early edge that never forced worse resets, farther-back farm, or traps the enemy actually had to answer, so won lanes need to keep the tax running before the map goes neutral `
If you arrive late and cannot set a full trap line, shrink the job. Drop the first trap where the diver or engage support has to land, not in front of the whole enemy team. Save the next trap for the retreat cut or the choke your front line is already holding. Keep E for the first real gap close so you get the recoil spacing and the Headshot instead of spending it to start damage. In those rushed fights, your goal is usually to turn one committed step into a bad step, then keep autoing through that window. Trying to recreate perfect setup after the fight already started usually costs more than it gives.
Every few basic attacks, or against a target she has trapped or netted, Caitlyn will fire a headshot dealing bonus damage that scales with her critical strike chance. On trapped or netted targets, Caitlyn's Headshot attack range is doubled.
Caitlyn revs up her rifle for 1 second to unleash a penetrating shot that deals physical damage (deals less damage to subsequent targets).
Caitlyn sets a trap that, when sprung, reveals and immobilizes the enemy champion for 1.5 seconds, granting Caitlyn an empowered Headshot.
Caitlyn fires a heavy net to slow her target. The recoil knocks Caitlyn back.
Caitlyn takes time to line up the perfect shot, dealing massive damage to a single target at a huge range. Enemy champions can intercept the bullet for their ally.
