How to play Galio
Read the full guide
Split lane into passive-up and passive-down turns: Colossal Smash is what makes Galio’s shove and short trades feel heavy, so when passive is down you usually want the smaller turn instead of forcing like your damage is still there
Galio’s buttons get much better once bodies have already connected—missed E, early W, or an R cast before the fight is physically real often turns your whole play into air
Do not judge Galio by solo-kill lane standards; he is unusually low on solo-kill dependence, and his best midgames come from staying close enough to the next collision that Hero's Entrance still turns an ally’s contact or an enemy dive into your fight
Ult when the fight has already become expensive to leave. The clean Galio R is usually not the first signal on the screen; it lands after your support gets engaged on, your jungler commits, or a diver chooses your carry. That timing matters because it turns Hero's Entrance from zone control into guaranteed disruption. In lane and early skirmishes, check two things before pressing it: can your teammate actually stay in the area long enough, and are you giving up a wave state so bad that the play has to work immediately? If either answer is no, hold it and keep the map more honest with your presence instead.
Every few seconds, Galio's next basic attack deals bonus magic damage in an area.
Galio fires two windblasts that converge into a large tornado that deals damage over time.
Galio charges a defensive stance, moving slowly. Upon releasing the charge, Galio will taunt and damage nearby enemies.
Galio will briefly step back and charge, knocking up the first enemy champion he encounters.
Galio designates an ally's position as his landing spot, granting all allies in the area a magic shield. After a delay Galio smashes down location, knocking up nearby enemies.
