How to play Graves

Fight on two shells: walk into real fights loaded, use E as the reload-and-stick step after the first shot, and look for Q where a wall snaps the return instead of firing it into open air .
W should steal the click, not just tag the target, so smoke the peel line or retreat path and then shoot the body you can hit flush with pellets instead of trying to fire through two champions to the perfect carry .
Good Graves games turn the enemy jungle into part of your route; recent data says stealing their camps moves his results much more than simply getting one early lane kill, so if no lane is volunteering a real play, point your next clear at their quadrant .
Invade when the next quadrant already belongs to you on paper: you know or strongly suspect where the enemy jungler is headed, your nearby lanes can move first, and you are walking in with two shells and enough health to take a real fight. The bad invade is the autopilot one right after a camp because you feel like Graves should be aggressive. If your lanes are pinned, you are half-loaded, or your first reset is late, take the cleaner play instead: hold the hover, clear your side, or meet the enemy on a camp timer you can actually win.
Graves' shotgun has some unique properties. He must reload when he runs out of ammo. Attacks fire 4 bullets, which cannot pass through units. Non-champions struck by multiple bullets are knocked back.
Graves fires an explosive shell that detonates after 1 second, or after colliding with terrain.
Graves fires a smoke canister at the target area creating a cloud of smoke that reduces sight range. Enemies caught in the initial impact are dealt magic damage and have their Move Speed reduced briefly.
Graves dashes forward gaining an Armor and Magic Resist boost for several seconds. If Graves dashes towards an enemy champion, gain two stacks of True Grit instead. Hitting enemies with basic attacks lowers the cooldown of this skill and refreshes the resistance boost.
Graves fires an explosive shell dealing heavy damage to the first champion it hits. After hitting a champion or reaching the end of its range, the shell explodes dealing damage in a cone.
