How to play Kai'Sa
Read the full guide
Before you trade, make Q private—sidestep off the wave or use brush so Icathian Rain hits the champion instead of minions, because that isolated-Q half-step is one of Kai'Sa’s real lane mechanics
Treat allied CC as borrowed Plasma, not just generic engage: level 6 and Q evolve turn one locked target into ult access, and buffering E through R makes the landing much more playable
Kai'Sa scales, but her cleaner games come when early buys reach evolve thresholds before fights get tidy; recent data is healthier in the messy 20-30 minute window than in long 35+ front-to-back games against Jinx, Vayne, or Xayah-type endings
Start by lowering how much you ask R to do. When you are behind, your job is to collect the fight after it starts, not force the whole thing yourself. Stay near the ally who gives you the easiest Plasma access, hit the closest target if that is all the fight offers, and wait for the moment when Q will stay concentrated after peel or frontline spacing breaks. In lane and side waves, protect recall timing more than ego trades, because getting back onto an evolve threshold matters more than proving you can still all-in. If the landing does not leave you with autos and Q, skip it and keep firing from the safer spot.
Kai'Sa's basic attacks stack Plasma, dealing increasing bonus magic damage. Allies' immobilizing effects help stack Plasma. Additionally, Kai'Sa's item purchases upgrade her basic spells to have more powerful properties.
