Look for walk-up lanes where Q is confirmation, not negotiation: if they have to watch a full Vault Breaker charge from vision, the gank is usually fake, but if they are overextended or already moving toward you, Vi gets to ask the question on her terms
Vi’s real handshake is Q-AA-E-AA on one body, not a fast spell dump—stick to the same target long enough for Denting Blows and Blast Shield to cash in, and do not ult a carry just to drift off and start punching a tank
When the game gets messy, Vi often wins by ulting the diver instead of forcing a hero engage, while her recent data-backed edge when ahead is strongest before long, peel-heavy fights give the enemy time to answer her first lock
Start by asking what answer you are trying to remove. If a carry has Flash, dash, or peel ready, walking at them and holding R usually creates a better lock than opening with it immediately. If the target is already cornered, flashless, or the fight will be lost unless they stop moving right now, press R first and finish the chain cleanly. In messy fights, your best ult is often not on the backliner at all; if their diver is the champion reaching your fed teammate, locking that diver in place can be the highest-value use even when it looks less flashy.
Vi charges a shield over time. The shield can be activated by hitting an enemy with an ability.
Vi charges her gauntlets and unleashes a vault shattering punch, carrying her forward. Enemies she hits are knocked back and receive a stack of Denting Blows.
Vi's punches break her opponent's Armor, dealing bonus damage and granting her Attack Speed.
Vi's next attack blasts through her target, dealing damage to enemies behind it.
Vi runs down an enemy, knocking aside anyone in the way. When she reaches her target she knocks it into the air, jumps after it, and slams it back into the ground.
